Welcome to He Manu Hou Trust ECE, a bilingual Kaupapa Māori early childhood education centre in Timaru.

A place for your tamariki to learn and grow.

Kohikohia ngā kākano, whakaritea te pārekereke, kia puāwai ngā hua.
- Gather the seeds, prepare the seedbed carefully, and you will be gifted with abundance of food.

A pārekereke is a traditional seedbed for growing kūmara seedlings. It is an appropriate analogy for the environment of our tamariki. This environment must be carefully prepared so that it provides well for growth and development. At He Manu Hou we believe that the importance of this preparation cannot be underestimated and it is our mission to ensure that all the tamariki who attend the centre are prepared for school and life beyond.

Our vision

Our vision is to create a holistic Kaupapa using the Māori model of health; Te whare tapa wha, that nurtures the needs of tamariki, whānau and Kaiako as lifelong learners and partners in all levels of decision making.
